Consumer health data privacy policy

How Kinetic handles consumer health data under Washington’s My Health My Data Act, Nevada’s consumer health data law and similar laws.

Effective date: October 3, 2026

The short version

  • Kinetic’s health data stays on your iPhone. The app uses it there to show you your day. We never receive it.
  • We don’t share or sell consumer health data, and the limited API never receives it.
  • You’re in control. Turn off Kinetic’s access in Settings, or delete the data, at any time.

Who this policy is for

This policy applies to consumers in Washington, Nevada and other places with consumer health data laws. Kinetic is made by Matthew Harrison ("we", "us"), and this policy covers the Kinetic iPhone app. Our full privacy policy covers everything else.

Consumer health data the app processes, and why

The Kinetic app processes these categories of consumer health data on your iPhone, only to show you your own day and only after you give permission in iOS:

  • Heart rate, sleep and workouts (including calories), read from Apple Health, read-only
  • Steps and movement (walks, drives and cycling), from your iPhone's motion sensors
  • Places and trips, from your iPhone's location, which could show a visit to a place where health care is provided

We don't receive this data. Health data read from Apple Health stays on your iPhone. Steps, places and trips are stored on your iPhone and backed up to your own iCloud, which we can't access. We don't infer or derive health information about you on our side, and the limited API described in our privacy policy never receives consumer health data.

Sources

The data comes from your iPhone: Apple Health (with your permission), your iPhone's motion sensors and its location services.

Sharing

We don't share consumer health data with any third party or affiliate, and we don't sell it.

  • Categories of consumer health data shared: none.
  • Third parties and affiliates it's shared with: none.

To show maps and place names, your iPhone sends location information directly to Apple Maps. Kinetic doesn't receive these requests, and Apple handles them under Apple's privacy policy.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • confirm whether we collect, share or sell your consumer health data, and get a list of any third parties and affiliates we've shared it with
  • access your consumer health data
  • delete your consumer health data
  • withdraw consent to its collection and sharing

Because the data stays on your iPhone, you can do most of this yourself:

  • Stop access: turn off Health, Location or Motion & Fitness for Kinetic in Settings > Privacy & Security.
  • Delete: delete the Kinetic app, and delete Kinetic's iCloud data: open Settings, tap your name, then go to iCloud > Manage Account Storage and choose Kinetic.

You can also email mrussellharrison@gmail.com. We'll respond within 45 days, as Washington law requires. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. If your appeal is denied, you can contact the Washington Attorney General at atg.wa.gov, or your state's attorney general. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top. For material changes, we'll give you notice before they take effect, for example in the app or on this website.
